Coastal Flooding Statement
4:37 p.m. PST Wednesday 5 November 2025

Coastal Flooding Statement in effect for:
  • Vancouver Island Coastline from Bamfield to Clo-oose
This statement is in effect for parts of the coast due to the following hazard(s): Higher than normal water levels.

Elevated ocean water levels accompanied by significant winds and waves are expected, possibly exceeding highest astronomical tide.

What:
- Possible coastal flooding due to storm surge coinciding with high tide.

When:
Thursday afternoon

Where:
Coastlines along west and north Vancouver Island, Central Coast from Margaret Bay to Cedar Island, Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands, near Campbell River

Additional information:
Another frontal system impacts coastal B.C. Thursday afternoon. Strong southeast winds will accompany the frontal system. The timing of the peak southeast winds with high tide will result in potential storm surge with water level higher than the highest astronomical tide.

Minor coastal flooding is likely along exposed shorelines, especially in the low-lying areas.

Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to flooding and/or debris, such as driftwood and rocks.

Coastal erosion is possible in sensitive areas, such as tidal flats, estuaries, dunes, beaches and barrier islands.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #BCStorm.
